Why and How does the basketball bounce so perfectly?

as with our Infinite Bounce technology

The best basketballs are made up of 4 parts

  • Bladder

  • Winding Layer

  • Carcass

  • External Layer or Cover

1 de 4

For us Hooper, to have such a sensational bounce with the ball, it's thanks to three essential components, and the quality of these materials and the thickness can play a decisive role.

THE ESSENTIALS FOR MASTERING THE BOUNCE OF THE BASKETBALL

THE FIRST KEY: THE BLADDER OF THE BASKETBALL, THE CRAFT OF THE BOUNCE

Obviously Hooper, we know it, but the bladder, the place where the air is held, is one of the essential components for a perfect bounce.

There are 3 types of bladders:

  • Butyl bladder: the most common
  • NBR bladder: the cheapest
  • Rubber mix Bladder
  • Synthetic and Natural: The Best

But its thickness plays a very important role in the deformation, permeability, and durability of the structure and bounce.

THE SECOND KEY: THE WINDING LAYER FOR A NATURAL AND CONTROLLED BOUNCE

Often overlooked aspect that few people discuss or understand, and whose purpose and function are often misunderstood: the filament layer surrounding the bladder.

The Winding Layer

What's its purpose? It helps to support the structure of the bladder, cushion its stretching, and so gives the ball a softer and more natural bounce.

And again, there are several types of Winding Layer with different thicknesses that can alter the quality of the ball and the bounce.

There are 3 types of Winding Layer:

  • Nylon Winding Layer: the most common
  • Winding Layer in polyester: the cheapest
  • Winding Layer in Nylon and Polyester mix: the best (used in our Infinite Bounce technology ).

THE ULTIMATE KEY: THE CARCASS, THE GUARANTEE OF INFINITE BOUNCE

Ball layers

The ball's frame, the best for last…THE CARCASS.

Located right between the external layer and the winding layer of the ball. This is what you see when your ball is well-worn out from hours of training.
The carcass helps to support the shape and internal structure of the ball to prevent deflation, deformation and gives it its ultimate bouncing qualities.

And of course, depending on the ball you choose, the carcasses will be made of different qualities.
The 3 Main Types of Carcasses:

  • NBR Carcass: avoid at all costs! They are the cheapest and the worst.
  • Butyl rubber Carcass: the most common, good value for money in production
  • Rubber Foam Carcass: the highest quality carcass with the best performance (obviously included in our Infinite Bounce technology ).

  • If you want to have balls with unique performance, select them right here…
  • As mentioned in the intro Hooper, you are now relentless regarding the peculiarity of the bounce of basketballs.
